Pump Street Bakery Chocolate - Ecuador 75%

  • Having quite a weakness for authentic, honestly crafted and delicious chocolate, once we discovered the unique flavours developed by Pump Street we knew we had to share it with as many folk as possible.

Pump Street Bakery is a small family run bakery on Suffolk's heritage coast making small batch, handmade artisan chocolate from single origin beans imported directly to them from family farms and cooperatives around the world.

  • The Ecuador Guantupi 75% bar is made from pure Arriba cocoa from Samuel von Rutte's farm on the Guantupi River in Ecuador. Pump Street import directly from Samuel and carefully process his great beans to produce a 75% bar with notes of brown butter, cashews and red wine and a sweet finish. Handmade from bean to bar in Orford, Suffolk.

This farm, on the Guantupi River, is where Samuel von Rutte planted 157 hectares of pure Arriba cocoa plants over 10 years ago. Recognising the importance of the flavour of the Cocoa-Nacional (Ecuador's national cocoa variety), Samuel was able to obtain planting material from the Genbank collection which had been created by the Rockefeller Foundation in the 1950s. Coupling this unique cocoa with an unrelenting focus on his post-harvesting process, he produces cocoa with low acidity and a strong Arriba flavour.

  • Cocoa Beans, cocoa butter and cane sugar. Minimum 75% cocoa solids. Processed in an environment containing nuts and dairy products. Bar weight = 70 grams
